Overview
Over the last two years, I have worked as a Student Marketing Assistant with an emphasis on Graphic Design for the Cal State LA Housing & Residence Life Office. I have worked on over 100 internal and external marketing, advertising, and communications projects during this time. Recently, with the hire of a Communication & Marketing Specialist, we have focused on creating consistent branding collateral and refreshing the overall feel of our social media outreach. Below are a few examples of projects and assets I have made.

Marketing Materials
Printed Materials

A.) Promotional Kit for the Cal State LA Preview Day. As part of a strategy to get visitors to apply for Housing on preview day, I assisted in putting together these items. Applicants who provided proof of completion would get a bag filled with Cal State LA swag during the event. I prepared the files for print on the tote bag, created the pennant design, and the double-sided flyer to the right.
B.) The purpose of this flyer was to highlight the benefits of living at Cal State LA Housing. I was responsible for layout design, curating appropriate photos, and the body copy. Although it has not been sent out for production, I recently created a version of this flyer in Spanish.
C.) The Housing Communities flyer was created to extend the handout above, Live Here Be Golden. The purpose of this one was to highlight the different areas of Housing and the amenities for each location. I was responsible for the layout and curating, taking, and editing photos.
D.) Finally, the Live Here Be Golden double-sided postcard was condensed to serve as a half-page handout. I was responsible for the layout design and curating of photos.

Social Media Campaign

As the 2023-2024 Housing Application was nearing its opening, my task was to create a series of graphics in different sizes for Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter. (A print option is also shown here.)
The graphics were created to be posted to each social media site as a slideshow/carousel. The first slide states the purpose of the overall post. The following three slides feature residents participating in different activities available to them while at Cal State LA Housing and the various communities in the background. The benefits featured are leadership activities with South Village in the environment, recreational activities with Phase II in the location, and academic support with Phase I in the background.
Instagram Refresh

As part of our new Cal State LA Housing marketing strategy, we focus on creating a consistent look and feel for all our posts moving forward. Since Instagram is where we get the most traffic, we are concentrating on this social media platform first. My role in this is to create custom highlight icons. I am also creating custom templates that the marketing team can use for future communications when I am not in the office. (Samples will be uploaded soon.)

Cal State LA T-Shirt Design

Every year the Housing & Residence Life Office gives out a t-shirt to welcome the incoming residents during move-in week. I had the opportunity to create the design over the summer. The shirts were produced in four colors, distinguishing which location a resident stayed in. This approach allowed the residents to engage with one another at the event and feel comfortable talking to someone new, knowing they were neighbors.

Croc Jibbitz and
Lapel Pin Design

During my first year as a Marketing Student Assistant, I also served as a Resident Assistant. Being an RA gave me a unique perspective on student life and allowed me to gain insights. One of the current popular trends among our residents is Crocs Jibbitz, little rubber pieces that are inserted into the holes of the shoes to customize them. When we were looking for fresh ideas on merch and swag to give away, I pitched for a Housing Jibbitz, which was approved. My task was to come up with the design seen here. I acknowledge that not everyone will have the shoes; therefore, a lapel pin would be an alternative option.
